| The Emergency Medical Insurance known as Travel Insurance is an extremely important financial planning tool for managing the risk of incurring huge amounts of medical expenses while you, a Canadian resident covered by your provincial health plan, travels abroad on vacation or for business. If you have Employee Group Benefits through your employer you probably already have some basic coverage through your Group Insurance for travels abroad. Check carefully what is covered and for how many days, or if you are not sure, call your Group Insurance Administrator. Please bear in mind that no Group Insurance provides you with coverage for possible losses like Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Baggage Loss or Delay, and for Travel Accidents. Even if you have Travel Insurance through your Employee Group Benefits Plan you should call me to buy those additional coverages. I can offer you different types of Travel Insurance all of them underwritten by Manulife Financial. Medicare International Travel Insurance Medicare International is an emergency travel medical insurance that covers you for up to $5,000,000 (Five Million Canadian Dollars) of covered expenses incurred by you as a result of medical attention required by you during your trip. The rates are determined by your answers to a medical questionnaire over age 55 (no questionnaire is required under age 55). If you are age 55 to 74 there is an option to purchase this insurance under the Fast Trak rate category without having to answer to Medical Questionnaires or Eligibility requirements. However, under the Fast Trak rate category pre-existing medical conditions are NOT covered. I suggest that you take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the insurance policy wording, the medical questionnaire and the applicable premium rates. SAVEAWAY Travel Insurance The coverage limits and benefits for SAVEAWAY Travel Insurance are reduced substantially to provide you with a true low-cost choice of Travel Insurance. You have the option to choose $50,000 Emergency Medical Coverage with no deductible or $200,000 Emergency Medical Coverage with a deductible amount of $500 per claim. You can access here the entire policy wording, the medical questionnaire (for ages over 55) and the current rates. You can add to both types of insurance, described here above, at your discretion coverage for Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Baggage Loss or Damage, Baggage Delay, Flight Accident or Travel Accident , Top-up the Trip Cancellation. The non-medical types of coverage, like Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Baggage Loss or Damage, Baggage Delay, Flight Accident, Travel Accident, and the Top-up the Trip Cancellation can be bought separately as stand-alone plans if you already have Emergency Travel Insurance through your Employee Group Benefits Plan. You can buy this insurance on the phone by calling my Office or Residence number or simply drop me a message through Contact and I will call you back. If you are a do-it-yourself enthusiast you can click here or use the link from my Home page and buy travel insurance from Manulife Financial entirely on your own. |
