|The Emergency Medical Insurance known as Travel Insurance is an
extremely important financial planning tool for managing the risk of
incurring huge amounts of medical expenses while you, a Canadian
resident covered by your provincial health plan, travels abroad on
vacation or for business. If you have Employee Group Benefits
through your employer you probably already have some basic
coverage through your Group Insurance for travels abroad. Check
carefully what is covered and for how many days, or if you are not
sure, call your Group Insurance Administrator. Please bear in mind
that no Group Insurance provides you with coverage for possible
losses like Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Baggage Loss or
Delay, and for Travel Accidents. Even if you have Travel Insurance
through your Employee Group Benefits Plan you should call me to
buy these additional coverages.
Very important! No Group Insurance and even no traditional
individual Travel Insurance will cover your medical expenses
if you intend to practice Contact, Adventure or Extreme Sports
during your trip, except the unique Optional Sports Coverage
from TuGo Travel Insurance. (See all the details here below)

1. Medicare International Travel Insurance
Medicare International is an emergency travel medical insurance that
covers you for up to $10,000,000 (Ten Million Canadian Dollars) of
covered expenses incurred by you as a result of medical attention
required by you during your trip. The rates are determined by your
answers to a medical questionnaire over age 59 (no questionnaire
is required under age 60). I suggest that you take a few minutes to
familiarize yourself with the emergency medical insurance policy
wording, the medical questionnaire and the applicable premium
rates. You can read here the policy wording of the All-Inclusive plan
and the Trip Cancellation & Interruption plan.
